Job Description:

The SUNY Orange Arts & Communication Department is excited to be hiring a new member of a vibrant department.

The person who fills this position will teach a full load (27 credits or 36 contact hours/year) of Art History, Art Appreciation, Studio Art, and lab-based course offerings on either of our campuses or any other college site. Participation in organizing student exhibits is required. Teaching assignments will include a combination of lecture classes and also studio / lab-based classes.

This position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities, including participation in curriculum and course development, departmental planning, attendance at department and college meetings, participation on department and Governance committees, student advising and other duties as assigned.

Instructors are expected to participate in College and Department assessment initiatives.

Teaching assignments may be on the Middletown or Newburgh campus or both.

Requirements:

Education Required:  MA or MFA in Art, Art Studio, Art History, Art Education, Visual Arts or a closely related discipline.

Experience Required: Experience teaching art history or art studio courses. Strong visual, oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

• College Level teaching experience
• Community college teaching experience.
• Multi-media technological proficiency (e.g. with Adobe Suite or comparable software).
• Experience with Distance Learning or remote instruction.
• Experience with inclusive and/or culturally responsive pedagogy.
• Experience participating in or organizing exhibitions of visual work.
• Bilingual skills.

Salary:  This is a 10 month Faculty position with a budgeted annual salary of $51,279 per the faculty contract.
