Full-Time Assistant Professor of Statistics/Mathematics (213UC6136)
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio. UC Blue Ash College has an enrollment of approximately 6100 students and offers a variety of programs at the associate and technical baccalaureate levels. The Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (MPCS) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Statistics and Mathematics beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year. The Department of MPCS currently has 25 full-time faculty teaching courses from developmental mathematics through calculus, differential equations and statistics, as well as physics and computer science. We are seeking a person who is deeply committed to teaching undergraduate statistics and mathematics courses. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the governance and committee work of the department, college, and university, and to be professionally active in the disciplines of statistics, mathematics, and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning. This person must have a strong background in both statistics and mathematics, being able to teach a range of statistics and mathematics classes at the freshman and sophomore levels. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours (usually 4 courses) per term and may include evening and/or weekend classes; class sizes normally range from 20 to 30 students. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and education. Job Description: On a full-time basis Faculty Members principal academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating and reporting knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications: Appropriate academic degree related to department specifications and prior academic experience.
Position Qualification: Master’s degree in statistics, statistics education, mathematics or mathematics education will be considered.
Ideal Qualifications: A doctorate or a doctoral candidate who is ABD (all but dissertation) in statistics, statistics education, mathematics or mathematics education is preferred.
